Curamóir — Android scheduling app for carers
The goal of this project is to create a mobile phone application that helps informal caregivers give the best help they can when looking after their loved ones, to serve as a benefit for the caregivers, and most importantly the patients. The main users of this application would be the caregivers of elderly people who are suffering with dementia. In general, caregivers, and people caring for the elderly on a regular basis have a difficult time scheduling and having an overview of the care being received by their loved ones.
Cúramóir is an Android Mobile Phone Application for scheduling appointments for patients who are incapacitated by some form of dementia. This idea soon transpired into a broader issue, where it can be said that local Nursing Homes don’t have great lines of communication with their patient’s family members, leading to the family feeling helpless, and the patient feeling isolated and uncared for. This application has the potential to help anyone in need but for this proposal we are solely aiming towards individuals with dementia.
Cúramóir began with the aim of simplifying and helping informal caregivers, and anyone working with sufferers of dementia trying to communicate with each other. The developers drafted up a product after much research and discussion. The goals that were targeted were decided after this invaluable research was carried out. The findings from user testing were positive and it is clear that there is a demand for a product like this in the market.
