The aim of the NRH application is to provide essential and easily accessible rehabilitation and play activity resource that will serve as further educating the parents on the developmental needs of the child whilst also providing a guide to a range of suitable developmentally play-based activities that will target the key neurodevelopmental areas that are typically affected by the acquired brain injury (ABI). The application focuses on the needs of children up to age six to be rehabilitated outside the therapy sessions with the help of their parents/carers.
This application requires to be informative for the parents/carers regarding to what is involved in the recovery process, an individual login for the users, a menu of interactive play activities for the different development stages and links to similar resources. An important part in the application is the potential to further extend the project to include older children and young adults and the potential to customize the activities for each child. The project concludes of two parts, the admin, which is the therapist who is adding the users and creating the specific activities for each child, and, the users, which are the parents/carers who have access to resources and the activities specified by the therapist. The application will be suitable to run on any mobile device making it easier for the parent/carer to use it in any room in their home.
The NRH application will serve to support parents/carers in understanding that they do not need to make big changes in their lives to have a positive impact. The application will support parents in reaching their child’s potential through play giving them hands on experience on their child’s rehabilitation process.
